Community Reforestation

Forest conservation is most effective when it benefits the people living in the areas around the forest. North Swaka Trust works in partnership with Mkushi’s Traditional Leadership and local communities to develop conservation projects that engage and benefit forest communities and increase awareness of the value of a healthy and protected forest.

Our community projects focus on addressing the key drivers of deforestation by targeting its underlying causes and building livelihood opportunities that incentivise forest protection and reforestation. North Swaka Trust’s community projects include Conservation Farming, Beekeeping, Cover Crops, Village Nurseries, Community Conservation Banking and Fuel-efficient Swaka Stoves.
