Where we Work

The North Swaka and Mkushi Headwaters Forest Reserves span 122,228 hectares, located just north of the Mkushi farming block in Central Zambia. The Reserves border the most southern point of the Democratic Republic of Congo and together they form the largest protected area in Mkushi District.

These Forest Reserves are comprised of primarily established miombo woodland, broken up by rocky outcrops and dwalas, and serve as the source of two critically important river systems in Central Zambia: The Lunsemfwa River and the Mkushi River.

Our community projects are based in the buffer zone around the Forest Reserves. This area covers a distance of 75km from east to west with Mkushi Town in the centre.

Our new HQ site is located in a beautiful woodland bordering on the North Swaka Forest Reserve. Due for completion in December 2023 the new site will provide a base for the North Swaka Team.
